Brisbane City Blue.EXE – Team Preview

Finals Seed: 3rd

Round 1 Placing: 3rd

Round 2 Placing: 4th

Brisbane City Blue.EXE enters the 3×3.EXE Super Premier Final as a physical, defensive powerhouse, boasting the tournament’s top rebounding unit (16.8 RPG, #1 overall) and highest rate of made 1-point field goals (13.6 per game, #1 overall). Their gritty defensive identity is further solidified by their 3 steals per game (tied for 2nd overall), making them a difficult matchup for any opponent.

Their frontcourt duo of Griffin Biwer (7.5 RPG, 2nd overall) and Matt Johns (5.0 PPG, 4.1 RPG, 2 APG) has been instrumental in controlling the paint, helping Brisbane establish themselves as one of the toughest teams to break down defensively.

Round 1 saw Brisbane make a strong start, winning both pool games decisively, including a dominant 21-11 victory over Alphas.EXE—the team that would go on to win the round. They backed it up in the quarterfinals with a commanding 22-17 win over Beefman.EXE, before falling just short in the semifinals against Hangzhou (21-17) despite a late push.

In Round 2, Brisbane doubled down on their size advantage, cruising through pool play with wins over Simon.EXE and Beefman.EXE before another quarterfinal victory over Hachinohe Dime.EXE (22-14). Once again, they ran into Hangzhou in the semifinals, and despite an intense battle, clutch defense, and big plays from Biwer, they couldn’t complete the comeback, falling 17-13.

Now, Brisbane enters the Finals with a double-bye, facing the winner of 6th, 7th, 10th, or 11th place. Their physicality, rebounding dominance, and defensive discipline give them all the tools for a deep playoff run—but can they get past the semifinal hurdle and push for a title?

Keys to Victory:

Control the glass: Brisbane leads the tournament in rebounding (16.8 per game)—dominating second-chance opportunities will be critical.
Physical defense: Their size and strength have made them a nightmare for opponents inside, and forcing turnovers will be key in slowing down smaller, quicker teams.
Find offensive balance: While their inside presence is dominant, shooting consistency will be key in late-game situations against elite defences.

Next Matchup: Brisbane City Blue.EXE will face the winner of 6th, 7th, 10th, or 11th place in the quarterfinals.
