Nunawading Sentinels Red.EXE – Team Preview

Finals Seed: 5th

Round 1 Placing: 4th

Round 2 Placing: 6th

Nunawading Sentinels Red.EXE enters the 3×3.EXE Super Premier Final as a battle-hardened squad, capable of playing through high-intensity matchups while keeping turnovers to a minimum (4.3 per game, 3rd lowest overall). However, their aggressive defensive style has led to foul trouble (7.4 fouls per game, 2nd highest overall), which has been a factor in their toughest losses.

Jake Afoa (5.3 PPG, team leader) has been their go-to scorer, stepping up in key moments, while Zach McKenzie (7.1 RPG, 3rd overall) has anchored their inside presence and rebounding dominance. In Round 1, they fought through a three-way tie in Pool D, securing a dominant must-win victory over Saigon Heat.EXE (21-10) before putting together a huge comeback in the quarterfinals against Hachinohe Dime.EXE (21-13). Their deep tournament run ended in the semi-finals against Alphas.EXE, where they simply ran out of answers against Ryo Ozawa’s breakout shooting performance.

Round 2 proved to be a much tougher challenge, as Nunawading struggled to find offensive rhythm against Lausanne before grinding out a clutch win against Minakami.EXE, led by Afoa’s late-game heroics. However, their quarterfinal loss to Hangzhou (21-8) exposed their struggles against size and efficient interior play.

Now, they open their Finals campaign against Minakami.EXE, a team they defeated in Round 2. With their controlled offense and high-energy defense, Nunawading has the potential to make another deep run—but can they stay out of foul trouble and execute in crunch time?

Keys to Victory:

Limit fouls: Their physical playstyle is a strength, but foul trouble has cost them key moments.
Afoa in attack mode: When Afoa is aggressive early, he sets the tone for the team’s offense.
McKenzie’s rebounding dominance: Securing second-chance opportunities will be crucial against Minakami.EXE’s interior-focused attack.

Game 1: vs. Minakami.EXE (5th vs. 12th)
